For the entryway I suggest { if you have the space} some sort of console table. Something slim, compact and opened at the bottom like these consoles from Wayfair and CB2. Either one could easily work.
Another option like this one from IKEA would work too. Not only do you have a spot to drop your keys or mail, it stores and hides your shoes as well.
If you are in the market for space saving dining furniture consider the Span Gateleg Dining Table from Crate & Barrel. When not in use it looks like this and can be pushed off to the side. Just dress it up with a pretty vase and frame until you are ready to use it.
When the table is opened up it looks more like this. Just add a few chairs and there you go.

And just for comparison here is IKEA's version of a similar design. Their version comes with additional storage drawers.
The mini parsons desk from West Elm would be a perfect at-home workspace. This desk can also act as a small bar or buffet when entertaining. Furniture providing double duty is always a good thing for small spaces :)
As you can see there are stylish space saving options out there. Who says small spaces can't be stylish? Not me!
